Who we are.
DPO Bench is run by UKGDPR, a specialist UK data protection consultancy. Plain-spoken data protection, done properly, is the day job. The experiment grew out of it.

Why a consultancy runs an experiment
We advise organisations on data protection every day, and increasingly the question we are asked is what the technology can safely be trusted with. We did not want to guess, and we did not want to sell an answer. So we built a way to measure it, and we publish what we find.
The same principles, applied to the bench
Transparency. Honest, plain-English advice is how we work with clients. Here it means the method is in the open, every score carries the version of the marking that produced it, and the caveats sit next to the numbers.
Proportionality. We right-size compliance rather than over-engineer it. Here it means measuring what matters in the job, judgement rather than recall, and claiming no more precision than the instrument has.
Partnership. We work as part of our clients' teams. Here it means organisations join the research, sit in the advisory sessions and put their own cases on the bench.
